The Flexiscore Series is available in two formats, for either junior brass band or junior wind band combinations. The music can also be used effectively by beginner orchestra. ROYAL CHARLES SUITE Harry Bishop £20.00
Performed at the National Festival of Music for Youth of 2013 in Birmingham. The work is in 3 movements: 1. Pride of The Fleet, 2. Through The Fog, 3. Burnt Embers. In 1660 King Charles II was proclaimed King of England onboard the Flagship of the British Fleet while returning from Holland, after which the ship was renamed The Royal Charles and went on to serve with distinction in The Second Dutch War of 1665-7. The suite begins at a time of immense patriotic pride and jubilation which is reflected in the opening fanfare. On a foggy still night in June 1667, the Dutch made an audacious raid into the Medway in an attempt to capture The Royal Charles. In the second movement there is a sudden change of atmosphere as the Dutch steal up the river Thames with great tension and awareness. The Dutch Navy seized The Royal Charles and set fire to the rest of the British Fleet. The desperation and confusion of battle can be heard in the final movement. The work is scored for 2 Trumpets, Trombone & Tuba, with additional parts for Tenor Horn, treble clef Trombone & Eb Bass. Grade 6/7 level. Product Code - DAN0151
